  Neighborhood Zoning Ordinance Input
Location: Montera Middle School, 5555 Ascot Drive You are invited to a neighborhood meeting to discuss proposed zoning mapping proposals for the Montclair commercial area, as well as the surrounding hills areas that include the Shepherd Canyon Homeowner's Association and the Piedmont Pines Neighborhood Association. Three phases of the new zoning ordinance are planned, including this first phas of meeting with active neighborhood/commercial groups to vet the mapping proposals. Next will be large community workshops with proposals reflecting feedback received from neighborhood groups. Phase III is the public hearing and adoption process involving Zoning Update Committee, Planning Commission and City Council.

  Beaconsfield Canyon Restoration
Help clear invasive plants, reduce the fire hazard and improve access to this gem of a canyon in the heart of Montclair. No experience necessary. Wear sturdy shoes or boots, long sleeves and pants. We meet at the end of Beaconsfield Place (closest address 2639), second street on the right as you go up Chelton from Ascot (the painted rock).   Street Closing in Montclair: Oakland Running Festival
All, As a Montclair resident and the Asst. Race Director for the annual Oakland Running Festival, I wanted to let you know that on the morning of Sunday March 28th over 1000+ marathon runners will be coming through Montclair.  The police will be closing off streets for a few hours starting around 7am until the latest of 10am.  Runners will be coming up out of Temescal Park and taking a left onto Broadway Terr. to Duncan to Fernwood to Mountain Blvd. (through the Village) continuing on Mountain (left of Ascot) and then turning left on Lincoln Blvd heading down to Fruitvale.  Only one lane of the streets should be closed, but there will be some traffic disruptions. We encourage Montclair residents to come out to support the runners as they pass.  Yard parties, music etc... are encouraged to show our Oakland spirit.  Our goal was to bring a positive and revenue generating event to the City of Oakland and we have over 5000 runners participating in all races.  All details can be found at www.oaklandmarathon.com.  Any traffic issues or concerns, please contact the City of Oakland.
