News You Can Use
Our 2012 annual Community Meeting at Chabot on January 30 drew, once again, drew a standing room only crowd. Nearly 300 ate, drank wine and lemonade, and visited with our exhibitors who offered a fascinating array of home security devices and tips, ways to help protect our environment and much more. The meeting clipped along from 7:30 to 9:00, with Mayor Quan delivering the keynote, addressing issues surrounding Occupy Oakland, OPD’s Negotiated Settlement Agreement and budget woes. Our panel, including Councilmember Libby Schaaf, Public Works Director Vit Troyan, Chief of Police Howard Jordan and City Administrator Deanna Santana addressed pre-submitted questions from residents for 45 minutes, delving deeper into the topics addressed by the mayor, plus paving, undergrounding, police patrol and other services in the hills. The evidence of teamwork was stronger than portrayed by the media in recent coverage. To flip through the meeting slides for an update on projects your association is focused on, click here.

At long last, Phase 1 (Ascot corridor) construction is under way. PPNA hosted a groundbreaking celebration in October. The conversion of electrical panels and private property trenching is under way for these first 260 homes. Street trenching will begin late first quarter 2012.
PPNA, the City and the utilities are beginning to meet to lay out the stages of work for Phase 2 (Chelton corridor). Click here for background and detail.
