Understanding how the forum is organized:

The General Forum - the main page with a listing the different categories
Categories - the listing of all the categories which currently are: Help, Elections, Current Issues, Services, Chit Chat and For Sale
Topics - a list of all the topics currently being discussed
Postings and replies - The actual message postings

The Forum's main page includes a list of CATEGORIES. When you click on a category, you are taken to that category's list of forum TOPICS. It's here that you have your first chance to participate: You can add your own topic or go to one of the topics that's already started. By clicking on an existing topic, you are then taken to the topic's message postings. Here, you can add a REPLY, which becomes a forum posting, or you can e-mail any of the commentors. Following is more detail on posting. You must be logged in to have your posting show up as a member post, otherwise it will be logged as a guest post.

Creating a new topic, (commonly called a "thread")

In order to start a discussion on a new topic or to take a different aspect of an existing topic, you must create a topic, (commonly called a thread) click on the button on the right,
"Start New Topic" and then fill out the form that pops up.
You also have the option to Preview your your message before you post. When you're satisfied, click "Post" at the bottom.
Posting a reply

To reply to someone else's post, you can click "reply" button at the top or at the bottom of the table.

If you want to include part of the previous post in your reply, highlight that part of the text, click on "Quotes" at the top-right corner, and you'll be taken to a reply page that's already filled in with your selected text

YaBBC

For obvious reasons standard HTML code cannot be used in posts. Instead YaBB allows the use of YaBB Bulletin Board Code (YaBBC) in posts. YaBBC is similar to HTML, but safe and standardized for bulletin board use.

Emoticons

Emoticons are a fun way to express your emotion in your posting. They can help you indicate whether you are joking, happy, sad, or a variety of other things. Each YaBB emoticon uses standard chat-style key-strokes, so it requires no thinking on your part.
